GOOD (Sub-captioned “Fuck you, Mitt Romney”)

(New York City) Estimated to be in the hundreds, same-sex couples from New York State who were married in Massachusetts between May 17, 2004 and July 6, 2006 have now had those marriages declared legal.  (Click here for the rest of the story)

It’s also notable that this sort of thing only strengthens the appeal on my case (which should be going forward sometime this summer).

BAD (Sub-captioned “Another good person…”

Yolanda King, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s eldest child who pursued her father’s dream of racial harmony through drama and motivational speaking, collapsed and died after making a speech. She was 51.  (Click here for the rest of the story)

Not only was Ms. King a spokesperson for peace, love and harmony, but she devoted a lot of her time and energies to worthy causes like heart health, women’s health, etc.  Sort of lends a bit of credence to that old hokey expression “Only the good die young.”

UGLY (Sub-captioned “One less hatemonger…”)

Jerry Falwell (I can’t even bring myself to call him “Reverend” or “Doctor” or anything other than despicable) died yesterday.  This is the same guy that said that the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina was the fault of homosexuals and pro-choice advocates.  Ironically, the Bourbon Street area of New Orleans was barely harmed…looks like God’s aim isn’t so good, eh?

He also took aim at demonizing a child’s television character, Tinky Winkie, a Teletubby.   Yet, I’ve never heard one report that the man spent time advocating for the homeless, education, child abuse, mental health, corruption in government, or other social ill.

HE was the social ill and I just can’t dredge up the sincerity to feel bad that he’s gone now.

If you’ve ever seen the movie Oh God!, you may remember God sending Jerry to tell the Reverend Willie Williams (and I’m paraphrasing) “You claim you are spreading God’s word, but God says you ran out of His words a long time ago.”

And good riddance.
