We have civil union marriage. We went to Vermont on March 19th, 2005. I work for a extremely large company, Pactiv Corporation in Canandaigua, New york. I have ask my human resources department twice now about getting my significant other on my health insurance and they refuse saying “we do not reconize same sex marriages!” We are planning a trip to Canada before winter to be married….I hope then Pactiv will get a grip!

Pactiv has no choice but to recognize that same-sex marriage, provided you become legally married. A civil union, unfortunately, is meaningless here in NY. Please keep me posted on what’s going on with you (you can email me privately, if you’d like). I like to keep track of folks like you when they alert me to companies not playing nice.
Thanks for your comment!
